Jellyfish Policy - Environmental and Sustainable Practices 

Introduction

Jellyfish is committed to good environmental and sustainable practices. As part of this commitment, we have developed this policy to guide our actions and decisions regarding resource use and consumption.

Purpose 

This policy outlines our commitments to reducing environmental impact, promoting continuous improvement in environmental performance, and encouraging environmentally responsible practices throughout the business.

Scope

This policy applies to all activities, products, and services provided by Jellyfish and is applicable to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders associated with the business.

Responsibility

Achieving good environmental and sustainable consumption practices requires collaboration and collective actions across all levels of the business.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for establishing the overall sustainability strategy and goals at Jellyfish and must provide the necessary resources, support, and direction to integrate environmentally friendly and sustainable practices into Jellyfish's operations and culture.

The VP Sustainability is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of carbon disclosure and driving Carbon Reduction Initiatives.

This includes: Defining a clear framework for collecting, analyzing, and reporting carbon emissions data (Objective 1). Collaborating with Media and Tech teams to implement Objectives 2 and 3.

Media Planning and Buying Teams are accountable for Primary Accountability for Objective 3. Responsible for executing media buying strategies that prioritize low-carbon supply paths and actively Decarbonize Media Spend.

Technology and Data Science Teams are responsible for developing, optimizing, and deploying code and data management processes efficiently.

The Procurement Team is responsible for promoting responsible sourcing practices and ensuring that Jellyfish comply with environmental and sustainability standards.

Office Managers are responsible for ensuring that environmental and sustainable consumption practices are implemented. This includes energy management, waste reduction, water conservation, and promoting eco-friendly practices within the workplace.

The Compliance Team is responsible for fostering a culture of environmental awareness and sustainability at Jellyfish, developing training programs, initiatives, and communication campaigns to raise awareness and encourage behavioral change among employees.

All employees are responsible for promoting and adhering to good environmental and sustainable practices in their daily work, contributing to all three corporate objectives.

External stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and business partners, also play a role in good environmental and sustainable consumption practices. Jellyfish ensures that these stakeholders promote sustainable practices throughout the value chain and encourages them to support environmentally responsible initiatives.

  1. Complying with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and standards and monitoring changes in environmental legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  2. Minimizing its environmental impact by reducing resource consumption, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Achieving long-term economic sustainability by adopting practices that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and create value for stakeholders.
  4. Setting and regularly reviewing environmental objectives and targets to drive continuous improvement.

Operational Focus Areas

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Jellyfish promotes the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle in all aspects of its operations and aims to minimize waste generation by reducing unnecessary consumption, reusing materials and products whenever possible, and ensuring proper recycling practices are followed.

Energy Efficiency

Jellyfish monitors energy consumption and promotes energy efficiency throughout the business. This includes optimizing energy use to reduce our carbon footprint, directly supporting objectives through efficient hardware and office management.

Sustainable Procurement

Jellyfish promotes the procurement of goods and services that are environmentally friendly, ethically sourced, and socially responsible. It also seeks to partner with suppliers who adhere to high environmental and ethical standards.

Travel

Jellyfish focuses on sustainable travel options and expects employees to minimize their carbon footprint when commuting and travelling for business purposes. This includes promoting the use of remote working, public transport, carpooling, and cycling whenever feasible.

Continuous Improvement

Jellyfish is committed to continually improving its environmental and sustainable consumption practices through regular monitoring, measurement, and evaluation of environmental performance using the ISO 14001:2015 framework. Progress against all three corporate objectives and related targets is tracked to further reduce the business's ecological footprint.

Environmental Incident Management

  1. Jellyfish is committed to minimizing the impact of unforeseen events and maintaining immediate and transparent communication regarding environmental incidents.
  2. All employees, contractors, and visitors are obligated to immediately report any environmental incident, spill, unauthorized discharge, or emergency situation (e.g., major water leak, chemical spill, uncontrolled waste contamination) to the Office Manager via Jellyfish Support.
  3. Following a confirmed incident, the Office Manager and Compliance Team must determine the necessary external notification, ensuring timely and legally compliant reporting to local regulatory authorities (e.g., Thames Water for trade effluent breaches, Environment Agency) where required by law.
  4. Appropriate Emergency and Environmental Incident Management Programs (e.g., Chemical Spill Protocols, Fire Water Management Plans) must be maintained.
  5. All environmental incidents (including near-misses) must be recorded, investigated, and subjected to the Corrective Action Process to identify the root cause and prevent recurrence, demonstrating continual improvement. to ensure rapid containment and mitigation of any environmental harm.

Compliance and Accountability

Jellyfish complies with all relevant environmental laws and regulations related to the environment and sustainable consumption, holds itself accountable for meeting the objectives and commitments outlined in this policy and strives for transparency and integrity in its sustainability efforts.
